First the War Cry, then Swing Away!

This is definitely your WTF moment of the day. The above video is a clip from the home shopping channel and it features some sort of weird exercise device. Basically, it is a cylindrical baton sort of thing that you swing around … and maybe shake.

So, as if that idea bizarre by itself, here's how they advertised it. They got three ladies to do the swing-shake motions. I am guessing they tried to get a fair representation of the female audience which explains the sporty woman, the girly lady in the dress and the busy working lady. At least that's what I hope there were going for.

Sadly, given that this was a weird device, those ladies ended up looking rather out of place. Firstly, the woman in black dress appeared to be a psychic trying to sell a strange hippie gadget. And yes, those weird breathing noises? Oh no, they didn't contribute to this notion at all, oh no, no, no! As for the sporty lady, she could easily have been an extra from Xena the Warrior Princess. By the way, those swinging movements as if you were wielding an axe? They don't help dispel this image.

Then there is the shy looking woman in office attire. The poor thing looks so awkward that you suspect she is someone from accountants who was nabbed in as a filler for this clip. Either that or she was meant to be dressed as the hippie lady and someone switched outfits at the last minute.
